The Bonaduce House - as seen on "Breaking Bonaduce" the reality show on VH1

Danny and Gretchen needed desparate re-do of their guest room, if you saw the show you'd know what I mean. It's so small that the full size bed in the room takes up all the space. It has 3 windows that opened in and the room was too small to even open them.

This is what I did...

First, we had to re-configure the windows to open out. This was a must. We needed all the interior space we could grab. Second, all the doors, into the closet, bathroom and bedroom, opened into the space which took up way too much room as well.

Out of the mind of me.... came a strange solution... take the doors off completely and arch the openings, rip out the bathroom wall into a half wall and create a new wall with a new entry door that OPENS OUT!!! (into the pantry area)

Check out the pics below

The way it was!

Buh Bye... walls gone

Arches going in!
Cramped much?

View back to old door.

View through old door, yuk!

Closet door out, arch in.

Closet arch, half painted

Bathroom wall out, then...

Half wall built, base painted

now faux painted!

new closet area

where the bed used to be
new sink area, just wait...

Now this pic to the left needs it's own explanation. Gretchen wanted a vessel sink on "something" wrought iron! Well, I couldn't do something normal, so I found an antique bar stool. Even my plumber was impressed!
The half wall has been capped with a wider tiled top and you can see my Starbucks cup... we all need lots of coffee! A wood carved shelf holds the soap dish and an iron decorative plate holder is hung on the left as a towel hook.

The pic on the right is the new entry. The red wall is freshly built and the two arches you see are where the old doors used to be, see above - first pic. The empty space under the old medicine cabinet is where the sink used to be and the door actually hit it when it was opened.

Lots of 'afters'
